Anyone who has been reading my blogs for a while should know that I have serious ax to grind with American corporate Capitalists. It seems that once certain companies have you over a barrel, they will rape you till you bleed, then go on TV to do their next ad telling you what a “wonderful, family-oriented company we are.” Or they will trot out some charity they gave .05% of their annual profits and make like it’s a really huge deal and you should be just soooooooo impressed. Meanwhile, they screw their customers like Hugh Hefner on Viagra at a Playboy Mansion orgy.
I think it is our civic duty to warn others whenever one of these egregious acts of malfeasance happens, therefore, I am going to do a blog on some of the more nasty corporate acts done by uncaring companies. Say what they will about “customer service” and how they care about you, once your money in hand, you are just a phone number to them anymore – one to which they can conveniently hang up on.
PayPal Has to Pay $25 Million for Being Sketchy as Hell
There’s no other way to say it. These people are dirtbags of a high order:
Here is just one of many complaints on this site:
No scam protection
I sold 2 tickets to an event for $550 total and sent the tickets electronically. After the event was over, I got a notice from PayPal that the buyer issued a charge back and got refunded the full amount, which was taken out of my account. I emailed the ticketing agency and they confirmed the tickets were indeed scanned and used at the event. The buyer was of course non-responsive, and enjoyed the event at no cost. I, on the other hand, got nothing in return, even after submitting all proof to PayPal and reviewing with them over the phone.
They agreed with my claim but could do nothing about it. What’s to stop anyone from doing the same thing as this buyer? PayPal said nothing.
Nice. You would think that a truly professional organization would contact the police and have them arrest they guy who lied and used the tickets. But noooooooo…..too bad for you, Mr. Seller!
Nestle – this is one very unethical company
In addition to all the vile things listed about Nestle Brands on this website, the CEO of Nestle came out a while back with a statement that water should not be free:
Few people know it, but Nestle is actually the world’s largest producer of bottled water. In fact, they’re so keen on their water business (which also involves many of their other products), that they believe water isn’t a universal right. Chairman Peter Brabeck-Letmathe said:
“There are two different opinions on the matter [or water]. The one opinion, which I think is extreme, is represented by the NGOs, who bang on about declaring water a public right. That means that as a human being you should have a right to water. That’s an extreme solution.”
Having access to water is not an extreme solution. It’s what we have called a basic need for centuries. Even Brabeck, after the media attack that followed, backed down. He said that he “believes that water is a human right” and “advocates for universal access to safe drinking water”. But his actions, as well as Nestle’s actions, show that that’s just greenwashing.
Add child-labor violations around the world, along with pollution and unhealthy products which have killed people, and you have a truly despicable company.
Wells Fargo’s Fake Accounts
That path wound up leading the company into a quagmire. Executives sought to drive growth by putting undue pressure on its employees to hit sales quotas, and many employees responded by fraudulently opening customer accounts. In most cases these accounts were closed before customers noticed, but in other cases consumers were hit with associated fees or took hits to their credit ratings. The bank was forced to return $2.6 million in ill-gotten fees and pay $186 million in fines to the government. But the biggest hit Wells Fargo will take is to its reputation, as the media and government officials spent much of the year slamming the bank for its fraud. The scandal also cost CEO John Stumpf his job – as it damn well should have. The sad part is the someone, somewhere is going to be more than willing to turn a blind eye to this crook and hire him so that their company can make obscene profits on the backs of the public! And to add insult to injury, I would bet a good amount of money that he got a nice Golden Parachute on the way out the door.
And now we have a man in the White House who is the epitome of all that is wrong with American Capitalism. At first I was thrilled to have a president who appears to be profoundly dedicated to the pro-life position. The defense of all life, born and unborn, from natural conception to natural death, is paramount to me. But it appears that he is, like a good magician, using the pro-life message in one hand to distract you while dazzling you with the other, performing a show you don’t understand and don’t want to. I speak primarily of his growing atrocious record on environmental issues.
I think that once again, we in the pro-life movement are simply being used!
You know, it is going to be hard to be pro-life if you don’t have a life anymore because the whole planet has been poisoned out from under you. National Geographic has begun to watch and report on his actions. The Environmental Defense Fund has a page listing their concerns about his actions on the environment.
Common to much of what the uber-rich do, actions are quietly being taken against those who wish to defend their land and their right to live in peace without being flooded by gallons of nasty, stick crude oil spilling all over their property. Do not be fooled either. The media, while profoundly liberal in their politics, are nonetheless owned and controlled by men whose primary goal in life is to protect the rich. If this were not so, they would be making a 24/7/365 stink about things like the EPA considering oil drilling in the Alaska wilderness.
They won’t be happy until the earth looks like this:

As George Carlin said: “They don’t care. They don’t give a **** about you.”
The American Dream by George Carlin (with editing to clean up foul language)
“But there’s a reason. There’s a reason. There’s a reason for this, there’s a reason education SUCKS, and it’s the same reason it will never, ever, EVER be fixed.
It’s never going to get any better, don’t look for it, be happy with what you’ve got.
Because the owners, the owners of this country don’t want that. I’m talking about the real owners now, the BIG owners! The Wealthy… the REAL owners! The big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions.
Forget the politicians. They are irrelevant. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. You have no choice! You have OWNERS! They OWN YOU. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought, and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies, so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear.
They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying, lobbying, to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I’ll tell you what they don’t want:
They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That’s against their interests.
That’s right. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table and think about how badly they’re getting screwed by a system that threw them overboard 30 years ago. They don’t want that!
You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork. And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shitty jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they’re coming for your Social Security money. They want your retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They’ll get it. They’ll get it all from you sooner or later cause they own this stinking place! It’s a big club, and you ain’t in it! You, and I, are not in the big club.
By the way, it’s the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe. All day long beating you over the head with their media telling you what to believe, what to think and what to buy. The table has tilted folks. The game is rigged and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care! Good honest hard-working people; white collar, blue collar it doesn’t matter what color shirt you have on. Good honest hard-working people continue, these are people of modest means, continue to elect these rich ********* who don’t give a **** about you….they don’t give a **** about you… they don’t give a **** about you.
They don’t care about you at all… at all… AT ALL. And nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. That’s what the owners count on.
It’s called the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.”
I keep trying to wake up, yet I find myself in some bizarre manner hypnotized by President Trump. Maybe it’s that I’m so thankful that Hilary Clinton is not president that I just can’t bring myself to see Trump’s bad side and how he is just continuing the plutocracy that has long ago taken over this country to run it for their own benefit. He is not interested in the little guy. If he were, he would do what the Early Fathers of the Church said and divest himself of his billions. Even if Trump means well, even if he thinks that he is doing a great job running America and representing Americans, he is still at heart a rich man, and because of that, because of the people he knows and hangs with, he ultimately can’t help acting like a rich man.
I don’t know that my rant this morning has accomplished anything other than to get this off my chest. What a sad world we live in. I dream of a world where people really care for others – but that is not this side of the grave.
